FaQs. General Information

I’ve never used the new SkyPlug Technology to install a fan, and understand it is a different process than what I’m used to. Is there an instructional video for me to watch?

Yes, and since this is new technology, we highly recommend you (or your electrician) watch the instructional video before beginning the installation process.  After you learn to install the first one, you’ll be a pro!

Can the GE Branded Ceiling Fan be installed on a sloped ceiling?

GE Branded Ceiling Fans that have a downrod can be mounted on a sloped ceiling with up to an 11-degree angle. Hugger fans (fans without downrods) are not designed to be mounted on sloped ceilings.

Can I add a longer downrod to the fan?

Yes.  For fans that already have a downrod, you can purchase longer downrod extensions at most large hardware stores.  Compatible downrods are ¾” in diameter and with or without a threaded end. (Which we highly recommend.)  GET INSTRUCTIONS HERE

Can I replace or purchase an extra remote?

Yes.  Please contact us at customerservice@skyplug.com and we will be happy to assist you.

Can you control multiple GE Branded Ceiling Fans with one remote?

Yes, you can control more than one GE Branded Ceiling Fan with one remote.  Refer to the Remote Control Syncing Instructions located in the Instruction Manual.

What if my remote is controlling the wrong fan?

Refer to the Remote Control Syncing Instructions located in the Instruction Manual.  An as an option, we also offer Universal Remotes for managing multiple ceiling fans.  Contact us for more information.

Does the GE Branded Ceiling Fan have a reverse function for saving energy?

Yes, all GE Branded Ceiling Fans have reversible motors.  For fans with 4-speed remote controls, you can reverse the fan with the included remote control.  For fans with 3-speed remote controls, there is a reverse switch located on the fan body itself.  Please refer to the instruction manual for more details.

Can the light be dimmed?

Yes, all GE Branded Ceiling Fans have dimmable lights.  The dimmer switch is located on the remote control.  (Ensure the dim switch is turned on by checking the switch next to the light bulb icon under the battery cover of your remote.)  As a bonus, there is also a delay switch on the remote control that allows you to exit the room before the light turns off.

Can I control both the fan and light with my existing wall switch?

You can only use a standard wall switch to turn the fan on/off.  The wall switch cannot be used to control the fan speed or light.  Since there is only one hot lead wire, only one wall switch will typically function.  The GE Branded Fans are supplied with remote controls to operate the fan and light from anywhere in the room.  An optional remote control holder is included, which can be mounted near the wall switch.  As an additional option, Wall Controls that operate all functions are available.

I am concerned about what to do when my LED light goes out. Do I have to purchase a whole new fan?

The great benefit of having LED lights is that they are built to last!  GE Branded Ceiling Fan LED lights are designed to last over 25,000 hours. (17 years under normal use.)  In the unlikely event that your LED goes out, it is easily replaced.  Email customerservice@skyplug.com for assistance.  To note: light kits have a one-year warranty.  Make sure you fill out the fan Warranty Registration online once you purchase a GE Branded Ceiling Fan.

Can I purchase a brighter LED light for my fan or one with a higher color temperature?

For the Treviso and Solano Fans, light kits with more lumens are available, as well as white frosted glass shades that allow more light to pass through.  Contact Customer Service for assistance.

For all fans, our current light kits are 3000K temperature.  Whiter light kits with 4000K temperature (daylight color) will be available soon.
